New York City’s Newest Attraction

When the name New York is mentioned, one cannot help but picture in mind the crowded sidewalks, vehicle-packed streets, and high-rise buildings that define the city’s skyline. However, in this enormous concrete jungle called NYC are spaces that breathe cool breeze and paint luscious, green landscape. If you are looking for the perfect spot to admire the Manhattan horizon and at the same time enjoy lots of sunshine and green grass, you have to be at the Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Fresh and Spacious with a Great View

Brooklyn Bridge Park is a recently opened  recreation area at the Manhattan end of the Brooklyn Bridge. The park has an area of 70 acres, and stretches 1.3 mile long along the East River. Its construction began in 2008, and the first section was opened to the public in 2010. The park is set to be financially self-sustaining, thus some parts of it are allocated for commercial and residential development.

Picnic, Recreation, Play, Fishing and Strolling

The once isolated and stretch of piers has been turned into a glorious public space that offers many different recreational opportunities. Brooklyn Bridge Park has really clean lawns ideal for family picnics and lawn games. You can enjoy a volleyball or Frisbee game in the green expanse, while children can have lots of fun in the park’s playgrounds. The Brooklyn Bridge Plaza has a rink for ice-skating during winter months.

If you enjoy strolling among greeneries, Pier 1 has nice walking paths and water gardens that showcase a number of native shrubs and flowers. Pier 5 has designated areas for fishing enthusiasts.

Exciting Nightlife

At night, the park offers a stunning view of the Brooklyn Bridge, the Manhattan skyline, and the Statue of Liberty. It also hosts regular public events like concerts, movies, operas, and activities for kids. You don’t need to leave the park when getting meals because food vendors are ready to serve you with hearty New York fares. Soon, the park will also have additional amenities like indoor recreational facility, multiple restaurants, and a hotel.

When you’re in New York, the Brooklyn Bridge Park is accessible by foot or by taking various public transportations such as subway, bus, and ferry. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, Brooklyn Bridge Park is a breathtaking retreat from the city’s bustling life.
